Charting Dashboard

Note: This topic describes the Charting dashboard accessible via the top menu. For the charting interface used in the compare mode, see Charting (Compare Mode).

Use the Charting dashboard to create custom charts showing your website response time and user experience metrics collected by AlertSite monitors. You can create charts combining data from several monitors, specific locations, and showing multiple performance metrics.

To open the Charting dashboard, select Charting from the top menu.

Default Chart

When you first open the Charting dashboard, it shows the response time of the first monitor in the list during the last 24 hours.

Creating a Chart

  1. On the left, select the monitors and charting options.
  2. Click Apply.
  3. By default, the chart shows just the Base Page Response Time values. You can add other metrics by selecting them from the Metrics list above the chart.
  4. Select the chart type – scatter, line or bar.

    Note: Bar chart is available only if grouping is used.

When the chart is ready, you can make a screenshot and share it with your colleagues.

Modifying the Chart

You can change the chart options, such as Time Frame and Chart Attributes. After making your selections, click Apply to re-generate the chart.

Charting Options


Select one or more monitors to show on the chart.

To view data from multiple monitors separately, group the chart By Monitor Device. Otherwise, the chart shows average values from all monitors.


Select one or more locations to show on the chart. Selecting none (0 selected) includes all locations.

To view data from multiple locations separately, group the chart By Monitor Locations. Otherwise, the chart shows average values from all locations.

Time Frame

Select the time period for chart data. You can select an exact or relative time period (like Yesterday, Last 3 Days and similar).

Chart Attributes

You can choose to show all runs, only successful runs, or only runs with a warning or error status.


Grouping replaces a portion of data points in series with one grouped point, making it easier to spot trends in charts that show large amounts of data.

You can group chart data by time (hour, day, week, and so on), or by data source (monitor and location):


By default, the chart shows the response time, but you can also add response time components (connect time, first byte time and others) and user experience metrics. For a description of available metrics, see Web Page Load Time.

Working With Charts

To view details

Hover over the chart points to see a tooltip with the status at that point, including:

To zoom the chart

Drag on the area you want to zoom into. To return to the original chart, click Reset zoom.

To hide or show data series

To show or hide selected metrics, click the metric in the legend. Hidden metrics are marked gray in the legend.
